Indigenous Culturally Responsive Supports

Honouring culture, strengthening identity, and fostering meaningful community partnerships.

This whole pillar reflects our commitment to walking alongside First Nations, Métis, and Inuit individuals and families with respect, cultural humility, and enduring partnership.

Indigenous Culturally Responsive Supports

Canadian Companion Services is committed to delivering culturally responsive and culturally safe community support services that honour the identities, traditions, values, and lived experiences of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit individuals and families.

We recognize that meaningful supports extend beyond daily care to include culture, identity, family, and community. Guided by person-centred planning, we work collaboratively with individuals, families, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous organizations, and community partners to ensure services reflect each person’s cultural preferences, goals, and aspirations.

Where desired by the individual and family, we support participation in Indigenous cultural activities, ceremonies, land-based experiences, traditional teachings, language, community gatherings, and opportunities that strengthen identity, belonging, and holistic well-being.

Our culturally responsive approach is grounded in respect, cultural humility, trauma-informed practice, and meaningful partnerships. By creating environments where individuals feel valued, heard, and respected, we promote inclusion, dignity, self-determination, and positive outcomes that empower people to thrive within their families, communities, and cultures.
